“Dearest Grammie, Grandpie & Uncle Cliff,
Tuk, tuk for the nice little telephone. As soon as I got it I said ‘Hello’ but nobody answered so I said ‘Hello’ again and this time my mommie said ‘Hello Susan, this is Grammie calling from the U.S. How are you liddo Susan, a tourse?!’ And I said, ‘I am fine, Grammie. I certainly like my new telephone. Thank you so much!’
I wish I could come and see you all. You would think I am a pretty nice girl now. I have lots more hair. It was so long in the front my mommie had to cut bangs so now I look like she did when she was a little girl like me.
How is Grandpie? Much better I hope. Why don’t you write me a letter, too?
XXXXXXX OOOOOOO from Susan”
