“Dear Jerome and Jean,
I rec’d the shoes you sent me. Many thanks. They are sure nice. You should not have gone to so much expense for me.
We had a card from Vernon and a letter form Cliff. He is leaving Springfield in two weeks. He don’t know where.
Vernon got to Nashville last Wed. and they were to rest a couple days before going to work. We had 5 Troop trains on Friday, 2 on Sat and 2 on Sun. All going West with all the equipment. Some business.
I worked at a wreck 2 miles west of Granite Falls Friday night. Got home Sat afternoon. It was tough but we stood it.
Bill has been here now for a few days. He said he is going to St Paul tonight. He was out to Mildred’s school yesterday, she has a very nice school.
I have no more news so you must excuse the short letter. Come home when you can.
As ever,
Dad”
