“Dear Mom and Pop,
Everything is O.K. How is it with you. I am sorry I have not written more, but I am sure you understand why. After all you can’t very well write a letter with one hand and fire a rifle with the other. Of course that is an exaggeration, but when I did have a spare moment I wrote to Milly, and had her keep you informed. There was a period though when I could not write at all.
I am enclosing a note to Aunt Caroline. I wish that you would forward it to her.
Got a pipe from Elaine and Doug yesterday and have written to her thanking them.
Wish I could get home for awhile. I have been away too long now.
