Red Cross Poster, WWII

“Dear Jerome & Jean,

Rec’d your letter a few days ago. See you had a hard time getting home. I don’t think I can sell any of those things you sent me. I would make a poor salesman. Thanks anyway.

Well I’m going to work April 1st. I can not lay around and not work. I feel much better.

Barney Hill was buried here last Wed. He died in Minneapolis. He had an operation for ulcers. Was getting along fine but it turned into pneumonia. Fred and Inga was here.

Nellie is writing you to so I’ll close. Hoping you are O.K.

As ever, Dad

Dearest Kids,

We gave money to the Red Cross funds today. Milly a dollar and us a dollar. I wished I could have gave more. I got my cross in the window by the three stars. We havent yet heard from dear Beany but hope he alright.

Hope you are both fine.

Much Love, Mom”
