The Song of Bernadette

“Dear Jean & Jerry,

The latest letter from you is your V-mail of April 27th- hope my letters are reaching you more promptly now. There is bound to be a delay sometimes, though.

Mom said that you had sent me a birthday gift- I should receive it in about a month. I want to buy something for you, too, Jerry so I’ll remind Mom to get you a birthday gift. Your birthday is on Sept. 30th, Jean- am I right?

Sorry to hear about Mr. Cox being sick. Greet them from me when you visit them again.

My last letter from Beany was dated April 16th- if he has been on furlough he wouldn’t write because his mail must go through the Army censorship system. Let me remind you again that your letters are not censored.

Tonight we have a good movie here- ‘The Song of Bernadette.’ Have you seen it? My letters are short but there’s not much to write about. I am fine.

Love, Cliff”
