Army Seizes Montgomery Ward President

“Dear Jean and Jerry,

Today is a beautiful Spring day and my thoughts are in St. Paul out at some good golf course, then washing the old bus, then a good Saturday night’s party. If I could do that once again I think I’d be good for another six months over here. Nice wishful thinking anyhow.

I’m feeling fine and just discovered I am gaining weight. Early to bed and a lot of G.I. chow are accountable for that. I’ve almost forgot how to dissipate but I don’t think it would take much time to get back in the swing of it again.

I read where Uncle Sam is now Jean’s boss. It was about time somebody stepped on those people. Maybe they’ll realize their mistake and give their employees what they deserve. The years I spent there seem like wasted ones in one respect.

Love,

Beany”
