Thanksgiving Dinner, 1944

“Dear Jean & Jerry,

Received your letters of Nov. 5th and 13th this past week. Also several from Mom and two from Beany dated Oct. 25th and Nov. 3rd. Beany said he was getting along fine with his platoon and wrote all about receiving his commission and of the events that followed. He is really a happy guy and is very proud. He wrote that he may get a pass to Paris.

Last night I received another of Mom’s Xmas packages. She had included sausage, cheese, crackers, nuts and dates. I imagine I’ll be receiving yours soon.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner last Thursday. It was very good- we had turkey and all the trimmings. On Dec. 4th we celebrate the beginning of our second year on this island. I have an idea we’ll still be here next year at this time.

I’ll send some snapshots as soon as I receive printing paper which should be here soon. There are a lot of packages at our post office that we’ll get today and tomorrow.

Mom wrote that my Xmas cards reached you on Nov. 15th. I didn’t expect them to get there until December. Bye for now.

Love, Cliff”
