USO Show With Martha O'Driscoll

“Dear Jean & Jerry,

Your last letter is of Feb. 5th- the latest from Mom is of Feb. 12th and from Beany, Jan. 17th. In Beany’s letter he said he was still in the hospital but expected to leave in a few days. He sent me a very good picture of himself which I was very happy to receive. I imagine he sent one to you, too.

Last Sat. afternoon Woody Clemonson came here- I went back to his area with him and stayed over Sat. night until Sunday afternoon. Sat. eve we had a little party there. I met several other boys from around home. We had some beer and sandwiches during the evening. On Sunday morning we were swimming in a river near his area. Swimming in fresh water is a treat after going in salt water most of the time.

Last night I saw a U.S.O. show here. Featured was Martha O’Driscoll of Universal Pictures. There were three girls, a master of ceremonies and a band. It was a good show. There’s another on the island which I hope to see sometime this week.

The weather is still very warm here. April should bring some cooler weather. Do you have any snow at home now?

Where is Jack now? I imagine he has been transferred from Farragut. Greetings to your folks, Jean.

Love,

Cliff”
