“Dear Jean & Jerry,
I received your letter of July 5th this morning- I am a little late in writing this time but I’ve been pretty busy.
Our team has played softball the past four nights- two practice games and two regular league games. We won both league games and now rate close to the top. I am chasing fly balls out in centerfield.
I see you had a nice birthday supper and party for Mom. She certainly received many nice gifts. She wrote that she bought a dress from Beany and I.
I should hear from Beany again soon- do you know where Jack is located now?
I received a package from Inga- she sent Yardley’s talc, shaving lotion and soap. I like it very much.
Things are quiet here- the news is good. Sure hope it all ends out here soon. Chances of a furlough are darn slim so it looks like I’ll be here for the duration.
Congratulations on your excellent rating in your work, Jerry! Bye now.
Love, Cliff”
