“Dear Jean & Jerry,

I received your letter of July 17th this morning- also got letters from Mom and Eleanor. Yesterday was very hot so I stayed in the tent and took it easy all day. We had a softball game after chow last night- won 11 to 3. That makes two wins in a row for us in league play. Just started a new series with eight teams playing. It’s a good pastime.

I won’t have any snapshots for you for awhile yet as it takes quite some time to get them back from where they are developed and printed.

I haven’t heard from Beany for a couple of weeks- wouldn’t it be nice if he was on the way home! He should be back in the States before the year is out.

I see you’ve been doing O.K. in your poker sessions, Jerry. I haven’t played since the boat trip. I’ve been going somewhere almost every weekend and evenings during the week I write letters, play ball, or go to a movie.

Have you heard from Jack recently? He’s probably on his way out here.

No more news- I’m getting along fine. Best Wishes!
