“Dear Jean & Jerry,
Well, things have been happening fast lately- we are waiting now to hear that Japan has accepted the surrender terms and that the war is officially ended. It is surely wonderful to feel that it will soon be at an end. I expect to be out here for awhile yet as there is still a big job to be done and there are many men to be redeployed.
I received your letter of August 2nd- I see that Mom has moved into Milly’s home. Nice that you had time to go out and help her with a few things.
Did you have a nice time at the party your club had that Sunday?
I haven’t heard from Milly or Beany for several days. If the war ends now Beany should get home soom and be given a discharge. It’s sure been a long time since we’ve all been together.
It’s been very warm here the past few days. I’ll sure be happy to get out of these tropics!
Bye for now- hope we get the good news soon.
