I just found out today that Beany and Dolores were home. It was perfect that they could get home together. I just finished a letter to him and to Inga. Isn’t it too bad about Inga being sick- I hope the doctors can make her well soon. Mom said that she was to take radium treatments.

Gear Inspection

“Dear Jean and Jerry,

Arrived in Colorado Springs Sat. morning at 9:30. I had almost three hours in Des Moines so three of us soldiers had supper together and went to a show before train time again. I stayed in town all day Saturday- saw a good football game in the afternoon between Colorado College and Lowry Field from Denver. The players on both sides were former college stars who are now going to school out here learning to do jobs for the Army and Marines. I came into camp after supper and got a few of my things in order again.

“Dear Jean and Jerry,

Isn’t it the dickens that the folks have to move? Darn the luck, they had such a nice place and were so well settled there. I’m anxious to hear what they will do now- Mom wrote that houses are impossible to rent in Appleton as so many of them have been sold. No doubt they will find something, though- they will need help to move, too, as Dad won’t be able to lift on that furniture like he has always done before.
